When we opened our first store in 1962, our favorite part of the day was inviting people to come inside and get warm. We loved sharing stories about travel, skiing and things we all love. In keeping with tradition, we'd like to share our story with you...
In 1954, David and Renie met as teenagers at the Junior Nationals in Jackson Hole. They competed in the 1960 Olympics at Squaw Valley. Renie finished ninth in Slalom and David was 14th in GS and Downhill. They fell in love, married, and began their lives together.
Est. 1962
The first store was an abandoned service station in Gunnison, Colorado, a place so frigid in winter you can hardly window shop. They carried Bogner, Kästle, Head, Marker and Nordica. That's what David & Renie raced on, and they wanted to offer their customers the best.
Store Openings Over The Years...
Our first catalog went out in 1976. It showcased the best in fashion, models and mountain locations. Forty-eight years later, we’re still sharing our love of the mountain lifestyle with people everywhere and our mission remains the same: to provide quality clothing and home items that you’ll love for decades.
David and Renie Gorsuch were inducted into the Class of 2021 National Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame in April of 2023. The purpose of the award is "to honor and celebrate the athletes, pioneers and visionaries of the United States who have significantly enriched the global sports of skiing and snowboarding."
David passed away in 2021, but his memory and love of skiing will live on.
